The regular monthly meeting of the Albany County Historical Society will occur January 17 at the Alice Hardie Stevens. Refreshments will be available beginning at 6:30 pm. A short meeting will begin at 7:00, followed by a presentation by Rodger McDaniel. The public is invited. There is no charge.
McDaniel will present highlights from his book The Man in the Arena: The Life and Times of US Senator Gale McGee that was published in September, 2018. McGee was a professor of American history at the University of Wyoming from 1946 to 1958 where he founded the Institute of International Affairs, which brought a series of well-known speakers such as Eleanor Roosevelt, Hans Morganthau, and Henry Kissinger. He then served as a U.S. senator from 1959 to 1977
Rodger McDaniel was a Wyoming state legislator from 1971-1981 and the Democratic Party nominee for the United States Senate in 1982. He received a law degree from the University of Wyoming in 1980. After practicing law for 20 years, he received a Master of Divinity degree from the Iliff School of Theology in Denver and was ordained in 1999. He is the author of four books.
